They do call it the 7-year itch... I guess there is merit to that phrase.

On the 15th of August 2006, I took over a little shop in Black Rock called Little by Little.  I had no knowledge of running a business.  NOTHING!  All I knew was that I loved fashion and especially kids fashion!  The shop was quite run down, crowded and dark.  Dark grey carpet, butter cream walls with antiquated fittings and not a mannequin in sight.

I knew the potential, I could honestly picture the transformation from the moment I set foot in that shop... White walls, white fit-out, clean pine floorboards, with a splash of colour... a red chandelier!  A bit of a Nordic theme about it!

It took us 2 frantic weeks to get it up and running... I still remember the excitement of unpack the unknown stock... the good (Fred Bare at its best!) the bad (striped purple and orange dresses) and the plain ugly (imagine a dress with puffy sleeves, blue ombre with a safari/giraffe print on the skirt, needless to say it was sent straight back!).  I didn't do the ordering but had to accept some of the previous owners orders.  The VIP night where I invited family and friends to join me in launching my new business.  The excitement, the anticipation, the pride.

The first day I opened to the general public, I remember I was so nervous I wanted to throw up.  I distinctly recall my very first general public customer.

Fast forward the years during that time I have had the privilege and honour to see my customers children be born, some go to kinder, others to school, go to formals... grow into beautiful young ladies and men!  I have been blessed to have made the most beautiful empowering friendships, the most amazing support network and all through this little shop in Black Rock...

After tomorrow, 15th August 2013, Little by Little and I will embark into a new phase... an exciting new era of Little by Little... again the same anticipation, excitement and pride...

Little by Little will take a new form... Like I promised, different yet the same!  One thing I have always had great pride in is our customer service and I don't want to lose that!

Little by Little won't be just your run of the mill web store... We will be pop-ups and not just for sale time!  Pop-ups and Open days when we have optimal stock levels so that our customers can buy the best, and at the best times!   There are so many new and exciting things that you will slowly  find out in due course...

In the meantime if you haven't subscribed to our website please do so by clicking here.

And Thank You for the support, the journey and the future.

Go girl! I love Adele, I love her for being "normal"... as normal as one can be when you sell sqizzilion copies of your CD's I guess.  I love that she hasn't managed to conform and lose weight like she has been advised by many designers.  I also love how Adele has managed to do what most "celebs" don't do when it was time to show off baby Angelo...

How did she do it...

No she didn't hold a press conference... No she didn't sell pictures of her baby boy for ridiculous amounts of money...  No she didn't twit/instagram/facebook photos of him to the world!

What she has done after shielding baby Angelo from the public eye for the last 8 months and when she was ready for her baby to be shown to the world, she did what any normal person would do,  she just took him to the zoo!  No make-up, hair in a bun, spending the day at the zoo... totally unaware of who is watching!

It's not like she kept baby at home... She freely took him out, for walk daily, wrapped in his blankey or in his Missoni Bugaboo  pram.

So here is Adele with her little man Angelo... Uber cute...

Good one you Adele for doing your own thing and in your own terms!

Princess Kate can do no wrong... She is the epitome of elegance and grace... Even at 7 months pregnant!

Like seriously how can see she look so amazing... does she not get swollen feet or blotchy complexion or sweat or get as big as anything or all the other things that us mere mortal women experience when pregnant!

By the look of the photos below o-b-v-i-o-u-s-l-y NOT!

I have compiled my favourite Kate-pregnant looks...

For the Queens Garden Party on the 22nd of May, 7 month pregnant Kate chose to wear a modified Emilia Wickstead coat/dress.

Kate chose another Emilia Wickstead dress to the National Portrait Gallery in April.  Stunning!

Never one to worry about being an "outfit repeater" Kate has worn this Topshop polka dot dress a number of time! I can see why!

Her love of colour and coats is highlighted here... Wearing this Tara Jarmon springtime essemble in April for the Naomi House Children's Hospice.

Kate wore a fitted shift from Erdem for a Manchester School visit

The frayed Mulberry is another firm favourite of Kate's.  She has worn a few pieces from this collection in recent months.  Again she favoured a coat.

A big favourite of mine is this MaxMara Studio wrap dress Kate wore in February.

She still has a couple of months before the baby is born and I am sure we have a few more amazing looks to see...

I think it is totally unfair that pregnant women cop so much heat for the way their bodies change during pregnancy!  Not fair at all... Most times they can't help it! (Unless you are my friend Mrs S who loved ice cream!)

For 9 months during both of my pregnancies, I was so sick that I ended up loosing weight, yet everyone was complimenting me on how good I looked... seriously couldn't they see how green I was!

Although not a fan of Kim Kardashian, I feel sad for her.  Here she is coping with all the changes that are going on in her life and her body, she has live out these changes in full view of the whole world.  I know what you're going to say, she chose to live her life under the spotlight of the cameras, agreed but there is no need to be cruel about it!

Sure she is guilty of making some terrible fashion choses, and some pieces are plain hidious, but she has had some great looks as well... funny how no-one has highlighted those! Or better still how amazing did she look in a bikini on a recent visit to Mykonos... really people this is a woman who is 7 months pregnant!

For that reason I have decided to show you my favourite "pregnant Kimmy" looks!

how amazing does she look in this lace kaftan?

Nude and leather pants...

she nails the casual look, because of the beautiful soft fabrics

the fabric is a little heavy but still a very elegant dress

white jeans and cami and nude cardi... gorgeous

a nice little shift

all I am looking at is THE bag!

boyfriend jean and Chanel! Perfect!

The next phase of Little by Little is going really well...

I am constantly on the look out for new things and new designers... that's the fun part of the job!

very positive...
Places where I always make a point of going and seeing what is going on is places like Finders Keepers, Mathilda Market and Magnolia Square.  In the past I have picked up people like Tutu Du Monde (Matilda's Market!), Mon Star, Mill and Mia (now going really far back). I love these markets because you meet the designers selling their wares.  They are new and raw and unaffected.  Their passion is their product and I can't help but feel that energy being infectious.

the neon rabbin cushion

Recently at Finders Keepers, I found this gorgeous lady that has a great range of homewares, a brand called Bird meets Bliss.  Her homewares are minimal, symbolic and have a positive thing to say about the world!  Bam!  Need to have! Her gorgeous cushions will fluro bunnies and her I love mum prints are amazing and what about the gorgeous "You're beautiful" prints... what a positive and uplifiting message to give to someone or even yourself!

the pillowcases

Recently I heard that she is introducing new designs and new products... well I can't wait to see them!

Bird meets Bliss products are available instore at Little by Little and online!

I feel like I have neglected you recently... That hasn't been my intention...

You see since I have returned to work and learning to walk properly again, everything is so much slower!  It takes me that much longer to do things... so when the time comes for me to write, it's 11.00pm and I am ready to sleep!

Just because I have been slow, it doesn't mean that things at the shop are!

WOW!  Where do I start... as I have mentioned in the past, there will be lots of wonderful new changes to Little by Little!  First and foremost we are adding to our name!  Secondly we are adding to our stable of brands.  New brands like Saltwater Sandals, Fleur Wood kids, Camilla kids, Rock your Baby, to name a few, will be added to the shop.

As well as kids clothes, we will be incorporating the most gorgeous range of homewares and not just for kids!  As many of you know, I have a background in personal and home styling and I have always loved gorgeous interiors so where better to showcase that!  We will be aided by some amazing professional interior stylists and decorators whose services can be utilitised by you, our beautiful customers.

We have already brought in beautiful candles and books and those ranges will be increase as well!  And we are looking at some fabulous things for us... the mums, grandmas, friends... adults!

As you can see we have been very busy here at  Little by Little, trying to make the shopping experience amazing for you!

Would love to know your thoughts!
